Christmas Postcard 2013- Tower Grove feature

I created my Christmas postcard this year based on a wonderful park in St. Louis- Tower Grove Park. My parents had some wedding pictures taken here, my college roommate and my brother got married here... its a pretty cool park. The pavilions in it have rich history and one of my favorites is the Turkish Pavilion- featured below.

Words: new art in the making

A new one I am trying that Anna showed me from Pinterest. Acrylic paint over vinyl lettering over an old painting. We'll see how it turns out soon.

MaddFlowers: Centerpieces for St. Andrew's Derby Brunch at Magic Chef Mansion

Sketches of floral arrangements I did for a Derby Day Brunch event while serving on their committee.

Then we took the sketch from Concept to Reality and made centerpieces for the St. Andrew's Derby Brunch at the Magic Chef Mansion. The event benefited low income seniors in St. Louis.

Valentine's Day Postcard

Megan hired me to create Valentine's Day postcards for her. She is a nurse on a cardiac step down floor so she deals with hearts daily. She also has a love for biking and biked in her first race this past October in the Pedal the Cause. The elements of the card were all inspired by her and for her. Enjoy and share the love!

its all in the details...

50 States 50 Sketches Postcard Project

Talking with friends and half strangers about my project has taught me about the states, found people to
send mail to and helped me become a better sketcher. Its been fun making up and looking up new fonts to try out and thinking of what to sketch. I've learned I should make a possible list of things I want to sketch before I start. For New Hampshire, I now look at it and think it could be so much cooler if I would have planned my sketches better but that's okay, onto the next one! 2 left!

50 states 50 sketches Postcard Project

Getting near done 3 or 4 left... I've learned that I shouldn't necessarily go freehand at it. I should plan more- make a list of things I want to draw before I just draw it. My 11 year old cousin did a school report on Vermont and that inspired most of the postcard below.
West Virginia was another state I knew little about so the words made up most of the card. We sang along to dueling pianos on NYE and John Denver's Country Roads was a fun one- so he made it onto the postcard.
